Antarctic Research Unit
The Antarctic Research Unit
serves to foster interdisciplinary research within a single administrative
School of Science and Engineering unit, and also serves to maintain continuity
between successive annual Antarctic expeditions.
Antarctic research is co-ordinated
through Antarctica New Zealand (incorporating the Ross Dependency
Research Committee).
Applications are made every two years
in September and all expeditions form part of the official New Zealand
programme. Finance comes from a variety of sources and is at present
under review.
Each expedition produces a report,
part of which is distributed by Antarctica New Zealand. On occasions
fuller reports (ISSN 0110 2192) are produced.
