Centre for Science and Technology Education Research
The Centre for Science and
Technology Education Research (Pokapo Rangahau Pūtaiao
me te Mātauranga Hangarau) is jointly administered by the
School of Science and Engineering, and the School of Education.
It provides a focus for postgraduate teaching, research and development
in science, technology and environmental education in the primary, secondary,
and tertiary education sectors, as well as in commercial and community environments.
The Centre is known throughout New Zealand and internationally for
its innovative research and scholarship, and for its emphasis on
the use of its research in the informing and development of policy,
practice, curriculum and resources. The staff and students of the
Centre work in close collaboration with researchers both nationally
and internationally, with local schools and industry, and with other
educational institutions.
Seminars, symposia, and conferences
are organised by the Centre to bring together people interested
in science and technology education research and development. This
sharing is also promoted by frequent visits to the Centre by overseas
researchers and through well-established international links. The
Centre publishes an annual handbook and a refereed periodical which
provide more detailed summaries of its activities.
