Regulations for the Postgraduate Certificate in Māori and Indigenous Business (PGCertMAIBus)1

This qualification is awarded jointly by the University of Auckland, Massey University, Auckland University of Technology, Victoria University of Wellington and the University of Waikato.

1.   The Personal Programmes of Study Regulations apply in these regulations.
Admission
2.   Candidates for the Postgraduate Certificate must have
  (a)    qualified for the award of a bachelors degree deemed relevant by the Academic Board or for a qualification considered by the Academic Board to be equivalent, and
  (b)    produced evidence of at least two years management experience deemed relevant to the degree by the Academic Board, and
  (c)    performed at an acceptable level in any tests for academic aptitude and/or interviews prescribed by the Academic Board, or
  (d)    produced evidence of at least five years management experience deemed relevant to this postgraduate diploma by the Academic Board, and
  (e)    performed at an acceptable level in any tests for academic aptitude and/or interviews prescribed by the Academic Board.
3.   In exceptional circumstances, based on academic merit and relevant experience, candidates who do not meet the requirements of section 2 of these regulations may be considered for admission subject to the completion of any qualifying papers the Academic Board may prescribe which must be completed either prior to or concurrently.
4.   Selection into the Postgraduate Certificate is on the basis of criteria approved for this purpose by the Academic Board.
Requirements for the Postgraduate Certificate
5.   The normal minimum period of enrolment for completion of the Postgraduate Certificate is one semester.
6.   Candidates completing the Certificate must normally complete within two years.
7.   Candidates must enrol in the Waikato Management School and follow an approved programme of study.
8.   Candidates admitted to this certificate must gain 60 points at 500 level from papers listed in Appendix A to the regulations for the Postgraduate Diploma in Māori and Indigenous Business, and must not enrol in more than 90 points for this certificate.
9.   A candidate enrolled for this certificate who has been credited for another postgraduate certificate any papers the same or similar to those listed for this postgraduate certificate is to substitute for each paper so credited an alternative paper approved by the Dean of the Waikato Management School or representative.
10.   If a candidate fails a paper or papers (worth not more than 30 points in total) he or she may repeat the paper or papers or take an alternative paper or papers with the same points value on one occasion only. A candidate who fails a paper or papers worth more than 30 points in total will require permission from the Board of Studies for Māori and Indigenous Business to proceed with the Certificate.

Variations

11.   The Dean or delegated authority may vary or waive these regulations in individual cases.

1.   This Postgraduate Certificate is not offered in 2019.
